How to play PianoVideos

Introduction

PianoVideos let you watch your favorite PianoDisc artists on screen as they play your piano. This exciting new technology adds a thrilling visual dimension to the Piano experience. Who can watch PianoVideos? If you own a PianoDisc system, the answer is most likely, “you.”

Here, we will guide you through the process of qualifying whether your system is PianoVideo compatible, selecting and configuring a video player, and integrating your video player with your PianoDisc system.

If you have any questions about any of these steps, don't forget that help is only a phone call away. You can reach our technical support department between the hours of 4:00 AM Pacific Time and 7:00 PM Pacific Time (M-F) and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturdays. Just dial 1-800-566-DISC and select the option for technical support. We're here to help.

SilentDrive Plus

First, we need to make sure that your system is equipped with SilentDrive Plus. SilentDrive Plus is a free software upgrade for those who already own a SilentDrive system. You can learn more by visiting our SilentDrive Plus Page. If you bought your PianoDisc system in the last few years, chances are good your piano is already equipped. If you purchased your system before 1998, you may have a non-SilentDrive system that would require upgrading to the latest PianoDisc electronics.

Not sure if your system has SilentDrive Plus? If you do not have SilentDrive Plus, new music or PianoVideos purchased from PianoDisc will play lots of extra notes on your piano that obviously don't belong. If you notice that happing, call our support line for information about the best way to upgrade. In most cases, the upgrade is free of charge.

Control Unit Pre-Qualification

Next, we need to verify that your PianoDisc control unit can play music from an external audio source. If you have an iQ, 228CFX, PDS-128Plus, or a PianoCD with or without an internal CD drive, you're all set. PianoVideo is also compatible with Opus7, but requires the iQ option. If you have an older PianoDisc system not mentioned here, please contact your dealer for information about upgrading to the latest PianoDisc technology.

Selecting a Video Player

Now that we know your PianoDisc control unit is compatible with video, the next step is to select a video playback device. A few years ago, we would only be talking about DVD players. Yet today, a dizzying array of video devices are available. Let's take a look at some of the possibilities.
